Sharon Gump Obituary
Sharon Lynn Gump, age 76, of 247 Cemetery Hill Road, Freeport died at Grant Medical Center in Columbus on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at 2:49 a.m. from complications while awaiting heart valve surgery.
Born in Wheeling, West Virginia on February 28, 1948, she was the daughter of the late John Fomenko and Rose DeNardi Fomenko.
Sharon was a 1966 graduate of Smithfield High School and went on to earn a master's degree in education from the University of Dayton. She retired from the Harrison Hills City School District in 2003 after 32 years of teaching high school English.
Sharon was married to Gary Allen Gump for 28 years. They were married June 21, 1969. Gary died in an automobile accident on September 21, 1997. Together they started Gump's Greenhouse in Freeport in 1995, after his passing, Sharon stayed busy running the greenhouse until 2015.
